Experience

I've been teaching now for 8 years, ranging from second grade to middle school math. I've been voted Teacher of the Year at my school, along with being selected by my administration as model classroom for a State Legislator when he came to visit my school. My last two years have been spent as a Math Coach, in which I modeled effective instructional strategies for teachers, observed lessons and provided feedback, and analyzed students' math data to create school-wide instructional plans. As a teacher in the Hillsborough County School District, I have accrued over 700 hours of professional development. While many of these courses focused on content-specific topics, the one that has been most influential in my teaching style was a week-long training on cooperative learning for a program called Kagan. Kagan embraces students' natural need for movement and discussion while encountering new concepts. By utilizing Kagan strategies into my instruction, I have seen increased student engagement and improved student scores. I'm recently engaged, and in order to have more time to plan my wedding, I've recently resigned from my teaching position. I'm looking forward to tutoring so that I can stay connected to the profession I so passionately love.

Travel - I've taught elementary school for two years in Europe, one year in Prague and one year in Berlin. While there, I traveled to over twenty cities spanning eleven countries. Yes, my fiance and I are planning a European honeymoon. Bike riding and hiking - nothing soothes my mind after a long day like a long walk in the park with my dog, Eddie.
